A Mystical Weaving Lineage

The weaving tradition in this region dates back to the 15th century Indian mystic and poet Saint Kabir. He earned his living as a weaver. The weavers of Benaras, include those who make our mats and are descended from this professional lineage.

From His Hands to Yours

Most yoga mats are made by machine. Ours are woven by hand. Each mat takes 10 days to make. This includes 3 days on the loom of a weaver like the one pictured here. He signs a card that's attached to the mat. This represents the hand-off from weaver to yogi.

Support for Yogasana Circle

We provide educational and financial support to the children of the workers who make our mats. These are the daughters of some of our weavers. When you buy a mat, $5 goes towards helping educate these girls and all the children of our productions workers. If you choose to make an additional donation, 100% goes toward this cause. Not a dime is deducted for administration.
